Both events seem to have changed their dates too from when their info was first released.
However, from what I can tell from the Pilot's Expo website it's mainly just including new civil aviation aircraft and accessories, plus the usual traders selling second hand stuff. There doesn't seem to be any display flying included at all from what i can tell.
Whereas the Whenuapai do is a celebration of military aviation and is mainly based around a flying display.
Sure, many people will be interested in both and I guess as each is unique, many wil travel from around NZ to Auckland to attend, so maybe it's prudent to hope crowds will go to Whenuapai on Saturday and Ardmore Sunday?
Sadly I doubt I'll get to Ardmore at all, getting to Whenuapai is a big enough deal as it is. Fingers crossed all works out.

Yes the newly painted Dakota will be there! She looks beautiful - magnificent in fact. Will be doing 'scenic' flights about 10am and then after the airshow. Come and take a close look at her!

I hope the newly painted Dakota will be there. Yes - she will be there! Very excited to show off her new livery to Auckland - so come and see her and join her flight at about 10am - then after the airshow.

Great stuff, I like the new livery a lot, even if it isn't a WWII one. It looks really clean and fresh, like a new aircraft now. Well done to the Dakota team.

Stu, do you think it could possibly be arranged to have a few film clips of the Dakota on the new site in its old livery? Just for old times sake? And especially the classic Eta Ripples adverts? The fans love those adverts. I'd like to see them again.

The fans love those adverts. I'd like to see them again. Good idea, although I'm not sure about the Eta ripples advert (as much as I'd like to see it again), that may be a bit tricky. If anybody has any clips of the Dak in its old colours let me know and I'll see what I can come up with. At some stage - possibly at Whenuapai or else Ardmore - I'll shoot some footage in the new scheme but I personally have none in the old scheme. Cheers, Stu.

Cheers Stu.
Apart from the DC-3, which other warbirds will be attending? I assume the Harvard team will be there. But can we hope to see the Mustang? Devons? And the Thunder Mustang? etc?

What a great line up, thanks Stu! No DC3 display? I'm keeping my fingers crossed I can make this event as my original plans went belly up and I may be without a ride up there.

Good to see the F-111 is the finale display.
The dump and burn should always finish a show.

I'll post the full military programme tomorrow. If you are in Ak, there will be a full practice of the military display at about 1030 Thursday. The last I read yesterday, the F-111's will be doing a 0.9mach or 550 knots low run, should be good.
