Wonderful stuff Colin. It was the most impressive I've ever seen of Kiwi Blue. That smoke against the blue sky was lovely.

Yes, and it also went all over the French aircraft.
Contrary to belief that stuff can stain too. I rememebr at the 1992 Wigram 'Village Green' (ie Christmas party and sports day) someone threw a purple smoke canister into PTS's caravan. What a mess, I think it was a write off in the end.

It was situated in the number 5 sqn hangar aye. It was more of a tricorps recruit stand.

Glenn, There was a link to a website where the pilot explains (with a video) how the manouevre is performed. It is dramatic but safe (if done correctly) I would guess. As it is performed often one would assume that the RNZAF do not have a problem with it. I'll look for the link - was it on this website? rnzaf.proboards43.com/index.cgi?board=Postwar&action=display&thread=1168331705Follow links from above URL web page for the explanation. Phil.

I came across a side on view of this a couple of days ago, I'll copy it from work tomorrow and post it. The actual angle isnt as steep as it looks, only abuot 40 degrees or so, still impressive from take off though.

So it seems, funnily enough I found that site a couple of weeks ago, some good info around on it. I copied the side on shot today but of course left my USB drive on my desk, well it was after the happy hour ;-) Edit: here it is from side on. Les.
