Are there any shots out there of the 22 ship attack during the Tora! Tora! Tora! sequence? I was one of the attackers and was only able to pay attention to the guy in front for most of the display. As the last of the attackers, I was first to be shot down by the P-40's and then had to go hide in the hills! I heard that we made a glorious rumble in front of the crowd as 22 radials assembled prior to taxiing back in. It was good fun with a capital FWhat aircraft were you flying? I'd be happy to send a couple of shots if I've got any.

James, Al was flying the gorgeous dark blue Nanchang 'China Doll'.
Sam, what's the story with that first shot in your last post? The one with the Catalina.

Here it here although it sometimes looks Black in different light. It was good to see the boys get right into the occasion complete with headbands

Sam, what's the story with that first shot in your last post? The one with the Catalina. The underside shot or the cat chasing itself on the big screen? There isn't a story really, what do you want to know?

Ah, now I get it, thanks. Sorry I meant the big screen one. I couldn't work it out, didn't realise it was the screen. Very good!

Sweet. I didn't actually plan the shot that way, I just forgot the screen was there.

I'm stunned. I was at Omaka continually from 3pm on the Friday right through to mid-morning on the Monday, as we set up in the carpark in our hired campervan. I would have said that I did not miss anything that happened there during that time. Yet you guys are posting pics - like Colin's ones of the paragliders out of the helicopter - of parts of the show that I never saw. Amazing. In response, here are a few of late night/early morning events that took place 'out of hours' Two Aerochute (or similar) powered parachutes: and one of the Titan Mustangs went for a buzz one evening:

Did you get any of the jetranger circling the 7 Triplanes and eventually following them out on Sunday morning?

Peter, on the Friday the two paragliders dropped from the chopper in the early evening about the time everuone was heading to the bar or to dinner. And on the two show days Aidan's jumps opened the show at about 9am. Of course each time it was hyped up by the commentary team as 'the first time ever in the southern hemisphere'. On the Sunday Craig and I looked at each other and said 'No it isn't, we saw this yesterday' :-)
That second powered parachute in your photos was the best, when the chute was deflated/packed up and the engine off, the guy could still get about on it as it had pedals! I saw him peddling away in the airshow traffic through the camper ground park on his way in. I want one.
That Titan Mustang shot is very nice. Oh how good were those evenings after the display, sitting in the garden of the Marlborough Aero Club with a beautiful barbecue dinner that they put on, a beer, some good mates and the bonus of all these planes doing a little extra flying after hours. Magic. The best one was the Yak team giving us a full evening display on the Saturday.

Did you get any of the jetranger circling the 7 Triplanes and eventually following them out on Sunday morning? Well I did get one of the Fokker formation with the JetRanger: but I spent most of the time trying to get other aircraft out of the formation pics:

Gavin, I certainly agree about the Yaks being awesome. I must admit I'd never though of the Yak 52 as being a very interesting plane, but after seeing them in action at Omaka I've changed my mind.
Dave, you should take a leaf out of Peter's book and book yourself a campervan for 2009: it's got to be more Possum proof than a tent! ;D

If you PM me your email address I will send you an email with the regos and colourschemes. You could also wait a few days for the latest Aviation News to come out as I have writtten a story covering all seven Triplanes. Just for your info the last aircraft with the blue feselage is actually ZK JOB. The other regos are fine
