We came second place after seven years and not as much practice as the winners of the day 19 Squadron we still did good though.

Well done. Can you please explain this to us who are not sure what this is about, What's the competition? Shooting?
Where's 19 Sqn from?

Ok, Davy Memorial Trophy is basically a drill team competition where squadrons from all over Auckland compete to firstly obtain the 40 squadron trophy and when you win that you win the right to go down to RNZAF Base Ohakea to compete in the National Davy Memorial Trophy which is open to the Northern Winners, Central Winners and Southern Winners. We basically march around and perform drill movements with the most military movements. 19 squadron is a squadron which is nationally renound.

And No. 3 SQN came 3rd. Given that there are dozens of Northern Area SQN's that could have entered and competed it was sad that only 6 Squadrons entered this year. Perhaps message boards such as this will encourage cadets in other units to persuade their units to enter next year.

Yes Absolutely I mean that was a shocking turn out although it made it easier and shorter for the more advanced squadrons like 3, 19 and 30. I take it pilot officer you are part of 3 Squadron?. I do have to say that with all the practice that 19 squadron put in, I mean weekends, tuesdays, thursday its no wonder they won they had the perfect movements and were well in time believe me. Their movements were so in time that all you could hear when they put their feet down for an about turn was a single stomp which was perfect. Good on all the squadron!!!
