There was a Central area sqn that had a rubber chicken as there mascot. On a Davie Drill comp in the late '90 when I was a F/S in 14 sqn "City of Gisborne" we staged a raid on the "H" block barracks at Oharka and stuffed it full of peas and hung it from the 14 sqn RNZAF hangar sqn lrd pentflag lanyard.
There was also a Female officer at Sparrowhawk '98 who was calling her 6 month old the sqn mascot, My idea on stuffing it full of peas and hung it up a flap pole was voted out 4 to 8.
14 sqn "City of Gisborne" had a small Elmo toy that had been "crucified" on a pice of wood and then hung as there mascot as we were the mascot killers at one point between 92' 99' then NZCF put a ban on fun apparently it's bad for your health.
The Elmo came about when I was a young Cpl and I was in love with one of the F/S. I gave it to her before we went on a camp, then she ripped my Hart out lol, by hading him over to the other SNOCs who publicly executed Elmo on the 'mog trip in the bush. It was terrible there was red fabric and fluff every where.
