Gear Alert
Electronic Landing Gear Warning System
**New and still in its box**
Gear Alert is an electronic landing gear warning system which gives an audible voice warning via the radio speaker or the crew's headsets.
The unit consists of three components. A transducer mounts on the belly of the aircraft. This is the detector which detects the proximity of the ground during the final phases of the approach. The electronics are contained in a separate module which mounts on the firewall, or any other convenient location in the cockpit. The third component is a switch and indicator light which is mounted in the instrument panel.
The unit is extremely easy to install, It requires no modification to the landing gear, other than a connection to the existing "landing gear down" light.
How it Works
As the aircraft descends during the landing approach, the electronics analyse the signals from the transducer. When these signals indicate that the aircraft is between 150 and 200 feet, the system checks the gear down light, to determine the position of the landing gear. If Gear Alert determines that the wheels are still retracted and the aircraft is within the warning zone, it alerts with an instantly recognisable "Check Landing Gear, Check Landing Gear" voice message which is heard over the speaker or directly into the headset. The voice message may also be triggered by the gear warning horn used on most retractable aircraft, thereby removing any possible confusion when horns are used in more than one alert system.
Technical Details
Input Voltage 12 and 24 volts DC
Current Consumption *** amps (standby)
Alert Mode Voice Warning
Alert Altitude 150 - 200 feet
