Soldier shot in rifle range accident

A soldier has suffered minor gunshot wounds during a training exercise at the army's West Melton firing range, west of Christchurch.
Police southern communications spokesman Inspector Alan Weston told NZPA emergency services were called to the range just after 10.15am.
Army spokesman David Courtney said it appeared the soldier suffered a minor injury to a foot.
"We're still trying to get full details ourselves, but initial reports are that it's a minor injury caused by a gunshot during a training exercise," Mr Courtney told NZPA.
