Welcome everyone to the new board for the discussion of Experimental category aircraft. This has come about after an excellent suggestion by Simon Gault, and I hope it will prove to be rather popular as the kitset and home build Experimental aircraft fraternity seems to be a growing and highly innovative one. So start spreading the word about this new place to chat.

Excellent going, Dave. You know, I've been in touch with Robert Baslee of Airdrome Aeroplanes last weekend with regards to the Eindecker kit......

not just yet......
That E111 bare fuselage really whetted my appetite... And one wing is easier to build than two (ie Nieuport).
Just that it gives me childhood memories when I used to watch the TV series "Wings" when the E111's used to attack the Be2C's !!

It's be great fun. And it sounds like you have full support at home which is what counts most.
Remember the dreded Endekker in the TV series Wings? It always had me scared as a kid because its machine guns were better.

...machines guns were better ?? All the RFC Be2c's had to fight back with was the observer in the front cockpit shooting his rifle back !!! Didn't they eventually mount a Lewis gun obliquely so it fired left past the prop disc ? Yes I was mesmirised by the sheer evilness of the Eindeckers (E111) also !!

I was stunned to learn that the Eindekker and almost all the other planes in the series were just models! Big models, but just models.

That's right, but they built a couple of full scale non flying replica Be2C's though. Apparently, one left the ground by a few feet while filming a mock take-off run which caused some anxious moments !!! I also heard that they were powered by Ford Cortina engines (TRUE !!) ;D ;D
