CAA has just released the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) for the long awaited Recreational Pilots license. www.caa.govt.nz/rules/nprms/NPRM_Part_61_RPL.pdfThis allows pilots to fly GA aircraft up to 2000kg MAUW with 1 passenger on a reduced medical, with some minor restrictions. This has been a very long time coming, but CAA recreational aviation manager Rex Kenny has done an awful lot of work in his own time to ensure this very important development goes ahead. There is still a lot of Bureaucracy to get through before it takes effect, but this is a big leap forward nonetheless. Cheaper flying is on its way!
