As I'm currently off work for the next month - and probably grounded for even longer - and relatively immobile thanks to my back completely packing up, I've decided that it would be a good time to work on the Warbird Dakota website.
In that respect, do any forum members have any photos of ZK-DAK in her new colours they'd like to share? If so, feel free to email them to me or point me to where I can find them.
Many thanks in advance, Stu.

Hi Colin, many thanks for the photos - the more, the merrier as, even though I may not use all of them at once, it's good to had a supply to draw on when needed. Love the skydiver shot by the way Cheers, Stu.

Hope you get better and can go flying soon Stu. Me too Thanks Joe. I think it's on the mend as I'm finally up and about although still on morphine which is probably not conducive to good aviation practices. Just a matter of time apparently. Cheers, Stu.

A big thanks to all concerned for the photos - the revamp of the Fly Dakota site is now well underway ( www.dc3.co.nz/ )with as many as possible being used. I'm a bit spoiled for choice now so those that aren't included in individual pages will end up in the Gallery. Cheers, Stu.

I've just had a look at the revamped site. The updated pages look superb, I love the homepage especially. Well done.
Will you eventually link to the ETA Ripples advert on YouTube? I reckon every fan of ZK-DAK would love seeing that again.
Any chance of a link to the forum too perhaps?

Any chance of a link to the forum too perhaps? www.nzwarbirds.org.nz/dakota/links.html ...... Not sure about the Eta Ripples ad, I'd love to use it but there's the issue of copyright (as I doubt the utube source is hhe copyright holder) ...... have to check up on that one. Cheers, Stu.

Thanks for the link.
I doubt linking to the YouTube site is a breach of copyright, is it? Maybe if you ask ETA they'll allow the use of the advert anyway, since it did such a great promotion for them first time around and would again be promoting them.

Juat a quick update for anybody who may be wondering why nothing has happened on the DC3 website for a while ..... the site hasn't been forgotten about, more a case of me being flat out at work as well as studying for my remaining ppl theory exams at present and not having enough time to devote to all my pet projects. All will be caught up on in the coming months. O.k. enough of my excuses. Cheers, Stu

No worries at all Stu. The site is developing very nicely indeed, and good things take time.
Out of interest regarding your work, will you be involved with the TV3 rugby world cup coverage at all?

Out of interest regarding your work, will you be involved with the TV3 rugby world cup coverage at all? Bit of a sore point with me (and a few other loyal staffers as well I would imagine). There are a number of technical staff going but in my case, a freelance sound op will be going instead. For cost-cutting reasons, it seems a large number of roles will be filled by freelancers who are being offered "a free trip to Paris and per-diems" but no daily/weekly rate. To be fair to them, if I was offered the same deal I'd probably jump at it - but it is setting a dangerous precedent for future freelance work ("instead of paying you ... ") and is a bit of a slap in the face to those of use who, over many years, have worked long hours (my record is a 22 hour day), held studio and outside broadcasts together with spit and gaffer tape and managed - sometimes by pure luck - to get a smooth show to air. Now, the mighty dollar has taken the front seat and technical quality the back seat, and in the case of sound ... we're running along behind trying to catch up with the bus. Point a mic in the roughly the right direction and that'll do .... Stu can fix it up in the studio. Hmmm ... can I retract my initial statement and change it to a BIG sore point. As I may have said before, once upon a time, the TV industry was a fun and exciting place to work with high professional standards, now it's just a sausage factory that churns out low quality fare and pays the mortgage. If I could get a paying job in the aviation industry (even web related), TV3 wouldn't see me for dust. Whoops, got a bit of a rant going on here - calming down and thinking happy flying thoughts. Much better Cheers, Stu.

Phew, sorry I asked mate.
I don't mind if the sound quality that fails is Hamish's microphone.
It does seem like a rip though mate. Did they offer the same terms to you guys ont he staff? I'd bet not.

Sorry about that ... got a bit carried away with the rant (snowball effect) and no, the same offer wasn't made to staff. Sigh ... would liked to have done the D-Day tour. No more sullying of the thread with talk of "that trip" ... time to take my happy pills and get back on topic Cheers, Stu
