That looks like a very tight fit.

Jeez Dave, you are right! It does look like a tight fit. I was a bit surprised to see that as I haven't yet found a more comfy aircraft to fly. I'm 6'2" and I can stretch my legs right out to the firewall. The instrument panel is fairly close however. I always wear my trusty Campbell helmet in her for that very reason. For some reason, the cockpit has 'grown a bit smaller' over the 12 years I have been flying her. I don't think that is her fault though. When I fly her cross country, I dress up in my Swandri, Mae West and gloves because there is no heater and lots of draughts. The cockpit is quite snug but adds to the fighter feel that we are convinced she has. The Andrews A-1 was built by a Mosquito pilot after WW2 and she has been referred to as the 'Little Spit' for many years. I bought a quarter share in 1995 with the view to building up hours and freeing myself from the reins of the Aero Club. I don't fly her as much as I did years ago but it is really nice to know she is in the hangar waiting for a sunny day. I have a shot of a mate of mine flying her late last year on the way to NAS Mirimar for some flying lessons. When I learn how to, I'll post it.

That last photo looks like someone thought they were driving an A-1 Skyraider - not the A-1 Special. ;D

Yeah, she's a gorgeous lil thing! Al, you are a lucky, lucky man! If you were airborne in this sweetie on Sunday, I was ahead of you in the Champ wtih GMO. It was so cool to see this unique little wonder cruise up on my tail I can tell ya! She's been flitting around, or at least out in the sunshine, most weekends that I've been out at Omaka. Ya know, I'm getting quite tempted to subscribe to Aviation News if they're going to keep on with the vintage/warbird coverage! Damn you Gav, I'm finding it hard enough to save as it is!

Na Zak, it wasn't me chasing you around the circuit. I was parked up watching yoos guys. It was good as there was you in the Aeronca, the Andrews, Piper Pacer and a Noddy-hawk in the circuit. 4 tail wheels and one trainer wheel. We are pretty protective of our wee girl. Top Gun Trevor who has looped the Space Shuttle would be in the queue behind Joe Jandals who yearns to fly the Cub and gets a buzz from flying old school.
