It is interesting that this aircraft, which is the one that once belonged to my Dad's mate Les Worsley, is on the Microlight 1 register yet the other two Isaacs Fury II's in NZ are on the amateur builkt aircraft register. What is the difference? Is it something to do with the powerplant and horsepower perhaps? Or all up weight? All three have been around a long time, I recall them all arriving in formation at the first warbirds show I attended at Hamilton in the early 1980's.

If an aircraft is within the microlight weight category, the aircraft can be registered as either an experimental or a microlight, its a paperwork exercise, there is no physical difference to the aircraft. Microlight allows you to fly on a Microlight certificate and medical, and do your own maintenance. Experimental has the advantage that you can log all your time against your PPL or greater license, and apon CAA approval, fly over built up areas, at night etc. Its all comes down to the personal preference of the owner - but can get quite confusing!
