Great shots! Racing and classic cars are fascinating topics I reckon. Like warbirds of the road.

Lovely shots, Who was driving? Here are some images from the Festival of Speed on Tweed at Murwillumbah on 8/9 September. Racing cars fly, too. Chad Wheeler’s Rennmax BN2 Palliser Have a guess. Ian Ross’ Beatrice Lola ex Alan Jones Freezing Speed Chamberlain GP car. 4 cylinders, 8 opposing pistons, twin crankshafts, the top one 50% of the dimensions of the main, lower crank, supercharged, two stroke. Lots of Castrol R smoke, arms and legs from the couple on board. And Oh, yes, a screaming noise. Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 Alloy-bodied rally car from the US. Ty hangar’s March 77B Formula Atlantic. The sister car to my March 77B. hangar’s car competed in the 1978 Peter Stuyvesant NZ Series and mine was a spare re-birthed tub at the time. Ian Grob drove the car in NZ and the team was run by Allan Docking. I converted my car for Hillclimbing and fitted it with a Cosworth YBM (from another NZ March), converted it to run a Lysholm-screw supercharger on Methanol with Motec engine management. It had Gould carbon0fibre wings and Avon radial ply Hillclimb-compound slicks.

Excellent shots Alex, and your's also Peter!
I guess the ultimate motorsport season, A1GP, is almost upon us too. Is it returning to NZ this year? I hope so.

Yep its on at Taupo again next year.I think they have a 5 year deal on a year by year basis. Its a great day out,and it backs onto the gliding clubs airstrip so theres a bit of air action, not forgetting lots of choppers.

Poor old Graeme - a brilliant engineer and driver in his day, but his "forthrightness" was his downfall! Last time my brother was talking to him, he said he's gone as nutty as a fruitcake. So sad.
