Joe, I have to agree with you regarding that green scheme on the Air New Zealand 737: it looks like the kind of pattern you'd find on a cheap PVC shower curtin! Great photos there.

Yeah, a cheap PVC shower curtain or a shirt at the Otara flee market.

They did that colour scheme for some top Irish lady who was out last week or so (I think).

Hi flyjoe. Nice pix. May I offer some suggestions to make them even better?
1. Use a UV or skylight filter if you are not already doing so. (Obvioulsy make sure the lens and filter are crystal clear.
2. Use a lens hood (as above , too)
3. If you are using Photoshop maybe use images/adjustments/highlights and midtones. It looks like you might be using auto levels.
The main issue is the "bloom" across the image. I know, that shooting into the sun can be difficult but also very rewarding.
I hope this helps.
Cheers
Peter

Some nice subjects there Joe, well done.
Does the Dornier 228 come in frequently? Have you bumped in to Bob Leask yet while out shooting?

Hey Peter, thanks for the advice. What do you mean by bloom? Colin, thanks, havent bumped into Bob yet. That's the first time I've noticed the Do228 at WGN. Not to say it doesnt visit more often, I'm usually flying and dont really notice the parked aircraft at the terminal.

And by a lens hood, do you mean one of those things that clip on the end with weird angles cut out of them? Sorry, I'm still getting to grips with the terminology.

The bloom is the glare caused by shooting closer to the sun than normally advised. I also see it as the misty appearance of images. Maybe there was a lot of mist anyway.
The lens hood sometimes does have cut outs but most just a longish round black tube. Think about how much clearer you can see in bright sunlight through a tube.
Do you manipulate in Photoshop or similar or straight from the camera?
Also try shooting early or late in the day. Mid-day shots are always going to be harsh.
What sort of camera are you using?

Yep it was a bit misty. I havent editied any photos yet, they are straight from the camera. It is a Canon EOS 400D.
