These are beautiful. I especially admire the shot on the fields and spray cloud vortices. PF

thanks for that, there are quite a few more that I have just added to my website although these are among my favourites. Ray Patchett and I have been friends for many years now and its nice to finally get round to getting these photos which were all taken for him.

Those shots are fantastic Gavin. I especially like the second shot in you second post with the grapes being topdressed (I never knew they aerial topdressed vines).

Yip, they do spray the grapes, mainly with sulphur and a few other products as well. Should probably point out that the one taken into the sun was taken on a still morning and the spray isnt drifting. Ray has a small amount of bank on and is skidding the aircraft a bit so he covers all of the site as it was a patchy block.

Beautiful shots. I always assumed spraying of grapes would be done by truck or tractor. Is it cheaper to use a plane?

They normally do use tractors etc but sometimes the crops need something in a hurry and due to the speed of an aeroplane or helicopter, you just cant beat it, it is more expensive though. Here is a shot taken early yesterday morning showing a nice propellor arc.
