Well, finally got around to transferring some of my photos from Edinburgh onto Photobucket. Most of the ADF's equipment was on display - with a few exceptions. The weather was 'interesting' to say the least: Saturday - 34C, hot and dry, mostly overcast with very strong blustery winds, with a dust storm blowing through at about 3pm: Sunday - 22C, cool, partly cloudy, with occasional showery periods and very strong blustery winds again! The weather was predicted to be so bad on Sunday afternoon that the flying program was commenced earlier and not all the aircraft scheduled to fly, flew on the Sunday. As it turned out the afternoon wasn't too bad at all, with bright sunny periods although it was still quite blustery. Anyway, here is a selection of my photos: sorry there are not more ground to air shots, but it was just one of those weekends. The Roulettes performed both days, and really impressed me with their formation holding in what were very trying conditions:The RAAF Museum's beautiful CAC Mustang and CAC Winjeel:AP-3C Orion - Edinburgh is home to 10 and 11SQNs, so I wasn't surprised to see a few around the base over the weekend ;D :ex-RAAF Mirage IIID A3-115 of the Aircraft Research and Development Unit (ARDU):F/A-18 Hornets:RAN A109 and AS350 Squirrels:F-111:Temora Aviation Museum aircraft:CT-4F:I'll post some more later.

Moderator2, I wondered why you had been quiet today. Now I know. Thanks for the great pics.

Yeah, ditto for me too. That shot looking up the rear guns of the Hudson is fabulous. Not a good sight for an enemy fighter pilot though!

Cheers guys. ;D I don't know about that Joe: if I was in the turret I'd be more worried that my .303s were a bit small compared to the 20mm cannons the Zero on my tail was toting.

Hi Craig,
Some nice shots. The F-111, A8-142, is the aircraft which displayed at Avalon 2007.
Interesting to see the Orion performing an all-engine out display. Funny how only one prop is feathered. Maybe a case of too high in the shutter speed. One could observe the same issue with the PC9s. Always a fine line between the subject beingin focus versus stationary propellers.
Great to see Temora's aircraft in attendance.
Cheers

Nice work Craig, I really do like the near head on shot of the F-18 and tell me, what is the large weapon under the wing of the F-111?

Excellent shots and coverage of the show there Craig. Thanks very much. I loved the Hudson shots, particularly the one discussed before looking at the turret from astern. The Hudsons were actually a good match for the Zero's in a battle, and if two Hudsons could get into formation they were usually able to fight off any amount of Zero's attacking them. As well as the turret they had, in the combat zone, the belly gun for defence beneath; side guns for defence abeam, and forward firing guns in either the nose or sometimes the wings that the pilot operated like a fighter. That, with their ruggedness and ability to take punishment, usually meant they got home ok.

I meant to ask, what's the story with the silver canopy on the ARDU Mirage?

It's a new fuel saving measure: shut down the engines and glide past the crowd line! ;D
Yes, haven't got the prop blur thing happening fully yet, but it's getting there. I was happy to see the Mustang and Winjeel props came out well though.
Gavin, it's an AGM-142 Raptor Stand-Off Weapon.
Dave, Not 100% sure, but I think it may spend most of its life outside plus from what I understand the cockpit isn't complete so that may have something to do with the silver canopy as well.
