Has anyone seen this movie? It is described as a French Version of Top Gun, but imho way better. The story line is the normal boy meets girl stuff, with a little bit of International intrigue thrown in, but the flight scenes were remarkable ( well I thought so, hence this thread.) The majority of the aircraft are Mirages 2000s (the movie was shot in 2005) with one memorable scene of a Mirage at what appears to be 1ft AGL going thru the sound barrier, with that pressure wave forming around the aircraft. It was shown on Pay T.V. here in Aust on the World Movie Channel. I taped it (just to give my V.H.S. a run, you understand) Plus it was on at 0130. I have scanned thru the February World Movies listings and it doesn't appear to be showing again (If anyone interested I can post it off so it can do the rounds and if anyone wants to put it on a D.V.D. (I can't) just as a backup, let me know.

I've got in on dvd; it's the US dubbed version though. Apparently the Yanks don't like watching 'reader movies'! I thought the flying was excellent and camera work is pretty good too, but the story line is a bit silly in parts. The interaction between the male and female characters looks like it was taken straight out of an Elvis movie!

FlyNavy, I never knew the RAN ever had a prototype KATO system for V/STOL A4Gs.

The A-4G KATO version could sure pack a punch as well! ;D

We had to find a good use for all those so called 'red rats'. ;D The 'boxing kangaroo' was the ASW version.

I'll bet they were prone to hook-skippy bolters as well. Although, it seems the A4Gs kept their steel tailhooks, as the KATO's backup hooktail is bent the wrong way. Were these loaded on to the carrier from lighters, or via some ROO/ROO ramps sourced from heavy vehicle ferries? Upon launch, the rate of climb, not to mention Gs, must have been way off the chart to compared to conventional A4G ops.

Our secret weapon of course was the Joey Missile ensconsed in pouch of main roo for extra punch. The UpBent tail was a typical RN modification that was in essence only required for balance when too much rum punch had been consumed at mess dinners the night before (where 'oxtail soup' was the appetiser). But I digress....
Roo/Roo ramps were tricky. Only another RN/RAN modification proved useful in that regard. Tie me Kangaroo down sport.
