you are correct winders located on outboard wing pylons - 020812-N-0000M-001 An air-to-air view of a P-3C "Orion" aircraft banking to port (left) carrying an AIM-9 "Sidewinder" short range missiles on each outboard wing pylon and a total of four AGM-84 "Harpoon" anti-ship missiles under its wings and fuselage. The Harpoon is an all-weather, over-the-horizon, anti-ship missile system adapted for in-flight use with P-3 aircraft in 1979. U.S. Navy photo courtesy of Mark Meyer & Naval Institute Proceedings. Hi Dave,
my advice would be to approach the Air Force Public Relations Officer in Wellington and seek a blanket approval for the use of the pics on this website. I am sure he would give that permission (I used to) on the provision that each pic has a caption underneath that acknowledges the source The source for RNZAF pics is: for a pic up to 20 years old it is "RNZAF Offical" for a pic older than 20 years it is "Air Force Museum" The reason for this is that as the photographic archives get to the 20 year point that are passed over to the Air Force Museum to hold. The Air Force PRO contact number is 04 496 0294

Dave and others,
a follow up to my last would they charge? Yes that can if the publication of the pics will be for commerical gain. For example the Air Force Museum pics used in my Kiwi Orions book cost me in excess of $700.0 to purchase from the museum for the express purpose of publication in that book only!

My photos might be boring, but at least they are mine.

Sniff, that pic of the Hawk. Was that the one taken from the P-3 during OEF in the gulf?

Special Note:
I contacted Squadron leader Glenn Davis, the RNZAF's Public Relations Officer. He has sent me the following message by email:
"Dave, as far as I am concerned as long as the photos are accredited to the RNZAF I have no problem with it. It is certainly not an issue that we would make a big deal over. Glenn"
Thanks RNZAF, we really do appreciate it.
So everyone, PLEASE remember in future we can use RNZAF Official photos but they MUST be credited as RNZAF Official, or as Paul stated, Air Force Museum if over 20 years old, if you are aware they are from that official source.
I will also add this as a new rule to the Forum Rules

Thanks RNZAF & Dave. I gather we don't have to go back to amend all photo posts?

Well that might be difficult but I guess if old posts resurface and an RNZAF Official photo pops up, amend then.

Dave,
well done, good to see the Air Force is happy for the promotion providing due recognition. The only other one to be careful of is those pics that are over 20 years old and should be credited to the Air Force Museum

Great photo Chris. All those red tags look neat, makes it look like it's on the flightline rather than done for a posed photo. Cool stuff.
