As a bit of fun I thought we could start off a thread where everyone out there who has an interesting picture of Modern RNZAF aircraft can 'log' their pictures in one place.
I'm interested in pictures of the Macchi 339CB (there are tons out there for the Skyhawk) but very little in the way of quality photo's of this fine aircraft. I've started a thread for the venerable Skyhawk as well and see how we go?

Have noticed on all 339 photos I have seen over the years that the body to wing fillet panels never have their fasteners painted.. Reason ...................................

If memory serves me correctly all the fasteners for panels that had to be regularly removed for maintenance or inspection purposes were not painted. The problem with painted fasteners is that over time they become very tatty with regular unlatching/latching for servicing You will note that the same applies to the removable panels around the tail section

I have just seen that some of these have a copyright, and I have deleted those ones off my photobucket account, but they still remain here as a post.
I don't want to upset anyone, and would really like to remove them, but not sure what else to do,,,,,

You can edit your last message Sean and working from the bottom up delete the entries for those 11 deleted photos. Is that what you meant?

That's what I was after. Many thanks. They have now been removed to avoid any "issues".

Those are super photos, especially those that Sean has posted. Wow, the MB339CB certainly was a very beautiful and photogenic aircraft comapred with most jet trainers. I always enjoyed watching the Maachis. They are as much missed by me as the Skyhawks.
Sean's first shot of the two over the lake/bay and the one with Ruapehu erupting are awesome. I know that some and guess that many of these shots are RNZAF Official.

RNZAF Official I had the pleasure of flying the aircraft that's closest to the camera in that formation. It was like being in a continual mexican wave as a little ripple on one of the inner aircraft was amplified as it went down the line! There were 14 Macchis airborne (the 14th was the photo aircraft for that shot). We all joined up for the echelon photos over the Wairarapa and then descended into Cook Straight for a pass in a large 14 overhead Woodbourne before heading back up to Ohakea. Anyone have the photos of the 14?

That's certainly a very spectacular sight. It's seldom that 14 of anything has been seen in the air together in the postwar period. And given the Maachi's track record for servicability, that's got to be a record having 14 of the 18 aloft?
Was the flyover for some particular special event or parade at Woodbourne? Or was it simply for a special photo shoot?

Are those shots out of the Ernst Young pamphlet? Very cool.

Fantastic Stuff! Please keep them coming, maybe those who have 'copywrited' their pictures might like to submit them on this thread themselves?
It's great to see pictures of MB339 airborne!

sorry to say guys but almost all of the flying shots and the simulator shot are RNZAF Official and were taken for me when I was the Air Force Public Relations Officer. As such they remain Crown Copyright and under the Copyright Act any publication of pics other than for and individuals reference purposes could be considered a commercial action OOOPS!

question:(genuine not being silly)would they in force that? even Thou most of those Photos were sanitized off of the RNZAF website and out of the majority of RNZAF/Crown Publications earlier in the decade as if they never exsisted?

I would imagine that it would be easy for Dave to get RNZAF permission to host RNZAF Official photos as long as any such photos were acknowledged. For example the Skyhawk Association has an online library of photos with permission from the RAN (via Nowra Museum) FAAM and RNZAF.

Would it be easy? Who would I have to ask? How do I go about this?
And Paul, in the meantime do we need to remove Sean's photos?

Dave, Go right to the top! Tell them your website promotes the RNZAF and its history. [The bleedin' obvious :-) ] Some people have to be told and some people have to do it. I would start at the official RNZAF website where there must be a link for anyone seeking permission to use their photos. The RNZAF should fall over themselves in their rush to assist you Dave. ;D
