Domestic flight forced to land
An Air New Zealand domestic flight made an unplanned stop in Hamilton today after a faulty indicator light forced the plane to land.
The flight from Napier to Auckland was forced to land in Hamilton about 4pm when a smoke indicator light for the cargo came on in the cockpit.
Upon landing the 50 passengers on board were bused to Auckland and the plane was inspected.
Air New Zealand spokesman Mark Street told NZPA the cargo was found to be smoke free, and that the indicator light had been faulty.
Mr Street said that the light had since been fixed and the plane was back in service.

If it was a Q300 with spurious bag smoke warning then I'd bet my left nut on some moron punter's mobile phone being left on in a bag in the hold. Seen it a number of times on the Dash.
