Another photo from Alex Brisbane's collection, this is of an American F4U-1 birdcage Corsair, at what is possibly Guadalcanal. This is scanned form a tiny box brownie type snap but when blown up it reveals the Corsair had a name painted on it. Or perhaps better described as graffiti! 'TOJO EATS SHIT' ;D Brilliant A closer look

Well well, when I found this photo I scanned it at Kerry Carlyle's place (fockewukf on the forum) and eventually he sent it to his US mate Roy Sutherland who apparently has a decal company. Look what is on his laterest decal sheet... at the bottom... barracudacals.com/proddetail.php?prod=BC48009Cool. So a photo I found in a kiwi Ventura mechanic's collection has now been immortalised for modellers to recreate Tojo Eats Shit in model form. I hope someone on the forum takes up the challenge and builds this.

Nice one Dave. Roy's a friend of mine too and I'll give it to him for not acknowledging the photo's Kiwi origin. BTW, he is actually a Canadian. A good guy and a fantastic modeller.

Thanks Keith, sorry I didn't know he was Canadian. I knew he was over the other side of the Pacific somewhere.

Ah right. So he is in the USA. I thought Kerry had said he was in the US.
When you talk to him, tell him that Alex Brisbane, who's collection this came from, was in No. 10 Servicing Unit, RNZAF, attached to No. 1 (Bomber Reconnaissance) Squadron, RNZAF, and he spent a lot of time at Guadalcanal. I think this is where he got the photos he had, which were all either official shots from the SU's photographer or traded, he didn't have his own camera. Whether or not the Corsair was at Guadalcanal I couldn't say.
