I see Airfix are rereleasing their Fokker Friendship and it will have an Aussie decal option , though which seems to be debatable , One Airfix souce says Ansett while another says TAA .

Is it a re-mould? I had to make some pretty serious profile adjustments on mine - the Tail fin strake and the nose (even for an early version) are well out, and the fuselage cross section is quite flawed as well (although this is less noticeable). Of course there is also the retractable undercarriage and moveable control surfaces and the corrections these incur....
Nevertheless the F27 is very much saught after, it should sell well.

I believe it is the same kit but it may have some improvements . Neither of the two 1/72 kits over this aircraft have been flawless , and neither has been readily available in recent years , so the reappearence of either is a good sign in my view . Airfix have rereleased both their Defiant and their old Gladiator kits , the Defiant really is a dog and the Gladiator was I think their second aircraft kit , so dates back to the mid fifties . The Gladiator has a decent decal sheet this time around which includes Faith , Hope and Charity as well as a pre war scheme . The only thing that would induce me to buy their Defiant is if it too had a decent selection of decal options . Airfix also have a MkIX Spitfire listed , I do hope it is not their old kit also . The Heller Gladiator moulds which could possibly have been an alternative to their own for Airfix , apparently went missing in Mexico years ago .

Qantas F-27 - are you sure? Hmmm, no, actually I am probably wrong. I was basing it on my memory of flying to Norfolk Island in 1981 when I was 10. My first thoughts were that we flew up on an East West F-27, which is fact as we have a photo of it, and flew home on a Qantas F-27. But thinking about it, we were booked to fly Qantas and had Qantas tickets, etc, but East West were doing the route on their behalf. We flew home Air New Zealand. I still have the tiki, slippers and colouring book somewhere I think. Those were the days when the flight crew used to be able to break up their boring long flight over sea by taking children up to the cockpit, it was an amazing experience for me.

That's only 3 hours of empty blue boredom... try 16.5 hours of Pacific emptiness, most of it at night, locked up the front on a LAX-HKG flight!!
