Finally have my digital camera so thought I'd put in a pic of my 486 Sqn Academy Tempest V I made a while back. I was real pleased how it came out and sits proudly in my cabinet. Kit is OOB except using Aeromaster national insignia, Modeldecal codes and lastly Ventura serials. Painted with Humbrol enamels, weathered with water colour panel wash and tamiya smoke exhaust stains. Behind it is my 1/72 Hurricane that was stripped with Mr Muscle oven cleaner. First time doing that and also first time using lacquers.

Unfortunately I can't confirm the exact pilot sorry. This was sourced from a Aeromaster sheet when I was finding usable pics, didn't specify pilot, here's the caption of the sheet Storms in the sky, part V:
Tempest V, NV937/SA-C, RNZAF, 486 Squadron in Volkel, Holland 1945 (normal Aeromaster colour ref follows).

Beautiful models. I love the Tempest, grace and brute force in one package.

I build predominantly the "brutes" like P-47's, Tempests, Hellcats, Japanese types and later mark types like Spit XIV & Fw 190A8. I have some twin engined types, biggest is my Dradon 1/72 P-61 I purchased recently (SCORE).
I think they have more character but won't pass up a Spit Vb or Mustang still.

A couple of very fine couple of models. I am impressed as 1/72nd is a small scale best suited to Swiss watchmakers in my book. Who flew SA-C ? I am struggling on this but will keep searching.

As above Thanks for the positive feedback guys, it's always appreciated and gratifying. I ike 1/72 as takes less time while my eyesight's still good and the level of detail is on par with 1/48's these days (hail Academy, Revell and Trumpeter etc) ;D I only do basic detail work like wiring, throttle controls and of coarse tamiya tape set belts (albiet more on a bang seat). Have an old Esci F-4J on the go and it's taken a little work due to the age of the kit (WARPED plus lots of ejection sink marks), but able to cross kit with a fujimi kit (they're really similar ya know?!?). I've got progression photo's in future.
