I was exhibiting at the Taupo Hobby last weekend. Sorry if the pictures have been posted before and my lack of details. This Corsair was very impressive. It is bigger than my car so about 1/4 scale. I couldn't confirm details but I was told it was made by a local farmer from junk - mainly metal. It was suggested the engine cowl started out as 44 gal drum. The Fletcher is an amazing model. Designed as a flying model (but not yet tested) even as a table top scale model the attention to detail and weathering would make it a show winner. The hopper and spray boom work as do the disk brakes, flashing beacon etc, etc Paul

Great models! Especially that massive Corsair. I bet Craig wants won of those!
Can you please give us more details of this expo? Is it annual? Does it have all types of models like r/c and scale cars, boats, planes, trains etc? The photos remind me of a wonderful modelling expo that was held at Whakatane in the 1985-86 Christmas holidays, which we went to for a few days as Dad was involved as president of SAANZ at the time.

Yes it is annual. I believe the local clubs are always invited to attend and selected trade and exhibition stands which are changed each year. This year they had radio control aircraft (fantastic helo flying display), RC cars (road and cross country) and RC boats, slot cars, model trucks and railway, wargamers. No model aircraft except about 30 Aifix kits placed out each day for kids to assemble and take home. Also spinning, bonsai, pottery, collectables, scrapbooking, geneology, space flight including models, sea scouts. Well worth the visit.
