Marcus, you have truly excelled yourself with this post! Fantastic! Those are really and truly beautiful photos and really of great interest. Are these NZPAF/RNZAF Official photos or Whites or what? Any idea?
I really like the one of the Moths lined up and ready to go, and the Fairy IIIF shots are both great.

Most of the photos are "Auckland weekly news" over-stamped with Whites aviation.

Do the Weekly News stamps have publication dates on their stamps? I could look up the issues.

With regard to the pic of the DH Moths... Are they W/T aerials running from the rear interplane struts to the tailplane of the nearest Moth ?

That's a good question Ray. I wouldn't have thought the Moths would have had W/T radios, but I guess it is possible. Some ofthe Baffins had them in the late 1930's.

If they were W/T aerials wouldn't they cause a problem with the wings folding and getting tangled?

I wondered that too Shorty, and I wonder if they're part of the bracing?

I haven't seen them in any other photos of our Moths

It isnt bracing, so quite likely is wireless. The Moth floatplane sent to Samoa had wireless.
