Or where, or when? I wish I had the rest of this series (this being #28), it would be fascinating insight on RNZAF crews in the RAF during the war. By chance does anyone have anymore of this series they could post?

I'm not even certian which one Ted Olson is in that lot. Do you know? Is that him second from left? The older guy with hands on hips doesn't have New Zealand shoulder tabs so is perhaps RAF?

I've got the three volunes of the official history of NZers in the RAF but they are packed away in a carton and I can't get to them.

Those three volumes and many other Official Histories are all online I'm 99% sure that those are all of the WWII ones. When they released the 2nd main batch there were a handful that weren't out of copyright at the time (now resolved). It's a great resource, especially as they are transcriptions (rather than scans, like the Aussie ones) and searchable. You can find interesting things in the driest-sounding volumes e.g. the 'Documents relating' volumes have the telegrams between London, Canberra and Wellington at the time that Italy declared war (Aussies do subtle sarcasm in diplomatic language quite well), and reports about Crete sent to Wellington. I sometimes use the final sentence of the below as a sig: The acting Prime Minister of New Zealand to Admiral Cunningham, Commander-in-Chief, Mediterranean Fleet (Alexandria) 2 June 1941 We have been told by our Prime Minister and have read of the wonderful work of yourself and the men under your command in sustaining, succouring, and relieving our men in Crete. Your efforts have inspired the people of New Zealand to continue to give all that they have to free the world from the menace of Nazi domination. For your magnificent enterprise and courage during the past twelve days, please accept for yourself, and convey to your officers and men, the heart-felt thanks of the Government and people of New Zealand.

Judging by the scrambled egg on the peak of his cap, I would say that is the AOC in the raincoat.

I like the stamp that says 'Please return promptly to..." I'll bet it wasn't. ;D
