I was a bit worried by the title of the thread until I realised it was Historical... Indeed the "powers that be" were very anti-homebuilts right through until the 1970s. Since then the attitude has changed significantly and we now have an extremely positive group of Sport And Recreational inspectors at CAA, excellent legislative environment for homebuilders and a strong Sport Aircraft Association to represent our interests against the Politicans. Have to say though that improvements in the design of homebuilts have also improved the reputation somewhat...

You can't blame old Fred Jones for being worried about people building Fleas though, especially when they were not sticking to regulations. I thought it was an interesting bit of history.
