The following photo comes from the Weekly News dated the 5th of June 1939 and shows members of NZ's Armed Forces in the northern region on parade in Auckland for the annual King's Birthday parade. There were army, navy and air force personnel on paread. I was wondering, did the Armed Forces of NZ continue with these big parades later when the war was on? I'm sure if they did they'd have been a lot larger and more designed towards recruitment. I'm also curious as to what the vehicles are, there are some six-wheeled traucks that apparently were for towing some old artillery pieces. Are they Morris trucks? And also the large bull nosed trucks with no cab roof are of interest, did they havd canvas tops for the rain or winter days? And did any of these vehicles actually see overseas service with the 2nd NZEF when war broke out a few months later, or did they remain in NZ, I wonder. Note also the sporty convertible on parade, looks like a Ford or something. Seems out of place. A closer look

What's the little car coming through the front rank between the senior service (on the right flank - well done chaps!) and the army?
No doubt Paul the 30 Sqn will be able to tell us.
