Well since the response for the Cere's was supportive enough, I grabbed the camera out last night and took some WIP photo's of my 1/48 scale Piper Pawnee.
Although I am pushine the NZ history boundaries a bit here (when decalled it wil be VH-SRC and the diorama is set at the Gatton airstrip west of Brisbane in Queensland) it was flown by my father and kiwi Mike Stokes for a couple of seasons, so there is a kiwi connection here...
Most of the work was spraying of the market garden farms in the Lockyer Valley for Lockyer Valley Air Services. The Pawnee was very suitable for this type of work and you wouldn't have required anything larger.
A bit more about the model, it is a resin model from Heritage Aviation Models in the UK. It is a bit costly in our currency but worth it, and arrived after 4 days. A lot of scratch building went into this model, including authentic leather on the pilots seat, a full cockpit with flap and dump levers, hopper with capacity levels and instrument panel. I also added the crash harness, trim wheel and even the roll bars and ventilation inlets in the canopy (helped strengthen the vac form as well)
On the outside, I added the spray bars and pump (including 1/48 scale micronairs which tested my patience and incurred about 3 burns from the solder!), the loading valve for spray and I also soldered a new undercarriage (the kit has white metal but it seemed a bit short).
Decals are still to go on, as with the doors and a mixing tank to load from! The weathering as well, because one thing for sure is that she was never this clean in the red dust of Oz. But until then she is fairly presentable and a nice reminder of the old man and what he used to do, and how much fun it was to ride shotgun or mark in the fields while he shot over
Hope you enjoy
