Great photos Alex! Love the one of the A380 and Beech 1900! Nice shots too Stu considering your level of access. Yes it was quiet even when it did a go around for wind shear on approach. About the only one that is different to Alex(apart from ramp shots and Beech) is a tail comparison with an ANZ 747. Some others can be seen here: www.airplane-pictures.net/news.php?p=361Cheers

I am not sure that it was wind shear, the airbus was expected to do a fly past immediately after the 1100 departure " as stated in the AIAL operational safety instruction report". I was watching it come around from a good vantage point and it never looked like it was configured for a landing. I think due to the air traffic at departure they may have decided to do the pass on the return, i may be wrong but it seems likely to me that this is the case

I thought it was over the radio as wind sheer and I got a text later saying wind sheer? Might have been part of the exercise. A head on shot from the car park. At 1500 the sun came out nicely for the departure to Sydney. Cheers

Bit of an ID problem here:
On Friday, October 10, Qantas's first Airbus A380 visited Auckland, marking the first visit of the type to New Zealand. It did a press junket promotional flight across the city and environs, filmed by a news helicopter, ZK-HST. This was heard on Auckland control 124.3:
ZK-HST: "Auckland Control, Hotel Sierra Tango. We've filmed the takeoff, and we'd like to track to the city to film the flyover."
Auckland Control: "Hotel Sierra Tango, do you have the A380 visual?"
ZK-HST: "Affirm, Boeing in sight!"

Typical media, even their 'chopper' pilots get it wrong.

Helicopter pilots are notoriously bad at aeroplane ID. As fixed wing pilots are just as shocking with ID'ing helicopters. However, this helicopter pilot must have slept in, missed the full briefing, and not realised what they were filming.

I was in one of the multitude of light aircraft buzzing around while the A380 was flying over the city. If anyone was watching from Mt. Wellington and saw the blue twin circling around the mount for a few minutes before the A380 came through, that was me.
