Army Silver Service Dinner up for grabs
15 September 2008
Ever imagined sitting down to a six course meal in an Army mess? Well now is your chance as a silver service dinner for ten at the Officer’s Mess at Trentham is currently up for auction on Trade Me.
The auction is part of the New Zealand Army team’s fundraising for the Accor $10 Queenstown Challenge which will be held from 1-3 October. Army Second Lieutenants (2LT) Ruth Tautari and Nicholas Fuller are one of three New Zealand Defence Force teams taking part in the event which is a major fundraiser for Cure Kids. Each team is required to raise to $7,000 prior to the event. Funds raised will be used for medical research into life-threatening conditions that affect children.
The 35 teams taking part in the Accor $10 Queenstown Challenge are given $10 and have to use various modes of transport to get from Auckland to Queenstown in three days. The team that arrives in Queenstown with the most points after undertaking a wide variety of challenges on the way will be the winner.
2LT Fuller said, “As well as looking forward to taking on the challenge our team is keen to raise as much as possible for this extremely worthwhile cause. I am sure whoever wins the auction will have a very special and memorable evening.”
The six course dinner will include pre-dinner cocktails, appetizer, soup, entrée, main course, dessert, cheese, wines and specialty coffees. The dinner, at the Trentham Regional Support Battalion near Upper Hutt, will be prepared and served by award winning military staff
