This just gets better and better. I know that you have visited teh real chopper a few times, do you know if the crew are following this build through reading the thread?

Thanks Guys
Mstokes, I appreciate the compliment, especially after seeing your lovely scratchbuild Fletcher project! I cant wait to see it finished either!
Dave that is a good point, I didnt think of that, I was just going to take it down in the near future so they could see the results so far from all my measurements and photo's.
Cheers Guys

I'm sure if they knew about the progress reports they'd be as interested, if not more interested, as we are, and they may be ab;e tp offer advice without you needing to trapse down to the airport every time you need to check something.

Hi guys A small update, Well progress has been slow over the past few weeks with work/family commitments. I was on business in Auckland and managed to call into "Transform Painters" they paint the Rescue choppers (as well as others) and have given me the official colours. Not only that but there was a BK in for repaint. I managed to get some awesome measurements off it and great pics of the cowl panels etc whilst they were all sitting on a bench being prepped. I have measured and cut the holes in the forward fairing (in front of engine cowl) ready for the mesh inserts as well as another rectangular hole in the rear part of it just below the catches. I also have added the forward centre framing for the windscreen, she is starting to look more like a BK again. As usual with me..........slow and steady wins the race! Thanks for dropping by for a look.

Well gents I have been working on this birds lower winch bracket and even MORE work on that upper fairing......again! Ok, so here is the winch system used on most Kiwi BK's And here is the lower mounting bracket I have started building........wish I had the confidence/skills to do it in brass. Maybe on the next build? The bracket is 21.5mm long and 6.5mm deep made with 10thou plastic card. An edge of fine strip was placed around the outer edge and then a 4mm disc was punched out using my Waldron set then a 2.5mm hole in the centre was punched out. After that the other holes were marked out and drilled and then reamed out to the correct dia. I had to sand it all smooth and then splash some Mr Surfacer around all the jouns and buff it all back smooth. As you can see I still have the rest of the structure to do now. I have done a little more tidying up of the airframe as well as those details on the upper fairing to match the real one. The square opening where my mesh is to go is wafer thin......got to be careful I dont crack it! Thanks for looking Cheers Anthony

Small update regarding the winch. I have now made the top bracket and have placed the 2mm rod between the two. This part took a lot of trimming and adjustment to sit perfectly vertical and 4.8mm from the fuse side. I used 10thou card to make the top bracket and carefully drilled and reamed out the myriad of holes in it. I am really happy how good it came up and looks 'spot on' to the eye. Bracket still needs a little bit of minor tweaking etc but is essentially 99% done. Sitting all square to the fuse through each plane...............finally Thanks for taking the time to look Cheers Anthony

It is quite astounding that the level of detail you're achieving is in 1/32nd. It's amazing.

Can I get some lessons in detail Wonderful, wonderful work. If (and it should) get shown, I would certainly appreciate the level of detail and work that has gone into this. Observing the body in the jig reminds me of the pictures of the NH-90's in their jigs in France. Will have to grab some tips off you in regards to nano scale model engineering!

Any time mate, Pleas feel free to ask any questions regarding how I have made anything at any time. It would be my pleasure to help in any way.............anyway I think it is me who should be asking questions after seeing your beautiful workmanship on your Fletcher.
Hope your day is going well

Dave I am more than happy to contribute any of my knowledge to anyone else that may need it. I am sure Anthony probably feels the same, those fine motor skills are surely testament to lotd of training. I think these things work well when people that have any questions ask them in order to get a response. I know I have in my time annoyed the hell (I am sure it was not ) out of experienced modellers by asking lots of questions, but you tend to find that is the best way to learn. I for example would be keen to learn more about casting and mould making from Alan and superdetailing from Anthony... cheers!
