NZ defence force personnel heading to Afghanistan
120 defence force personnel are flying out to Afghanistan today for the start of a six-month tour of duty.
Soldiers from several army units as well as Navy and Air Force staff leave this morning from Ohakea Air Force Base near Palmerston North.
There are currently 136 New Zealand defence force personnel Afghanistan most working as a reconstruction team in Bamyan Province.
