Some random photos taken on my travels the last few weeks. As the SLR is a bit bulky to carry around every day in the cockpit I've acquired a compact digital, a Canon A720IS. Good little camera with 6x optical zoom and 8 megapixels. Not as good as the SLR of course, but much more practical for carrying around and very easy to use with similar features to the EOS400D.
I know there's a lot of money in aviation because I put it there.
Nice pics Joe - KFB looks great in that scheme much better than the old one Isn't that usually based in WLG or does it only head down there when Mr Jackson needs it? Not often I get to see BHE from the airside angle looks good, when was that?
Love those images, Joe. Those compact Canons are great little cameras. My first digital camera was a Canon A85 that I bought about four years ago, and it's still going strong with it's new owner - one of my sisters!
Being a non-pilot, I'm amazed at the amount of ice that can build up on an aircraft in the right conditions. Easy to see how it can quickly cause problems if not dealt with.
Is that O2 mask a left over from the Battle of Britain? ;D

Hi Joe, I hope it wasnt Avsec in Christchurch giving you a bit of a run around as we always try and help you guys as much as possible. I know we sometimes are a bit pushed and you may have to wait for a few minutes but we may have a bit on with other escorts and such. I will have to say hello if I see you about now I know what you look like, although that Oxy mask you are wearing looks like its an antique left over from the trenchs of the First World War!!!
I believe the CT4's were on training sorties. They were flying in/out of wigram for a bit. 2 ship formation take offs followed by splits into trail to set heading overhead the field on navigation flights by the looks. Was great to see and hear them trashing around. My house is under the circuit. One formation looked very sharp staying in echelon all the way from take-off to set heading. Pity these things aren't notified more, especially to the ATC as they stayed overnight at WG one night I'd heard.

Fantastic photo's Joe, I forget who pretty lil Ole NZ is from the air. The great thing about your shots are that for many of your fellow aviators..the pictures you have taken encompass loads of things that ordinary lay people dont get to see, or notice... e.g. ice the windscreen! I reckon CX need to wash their aeroplanes a bit more!
Better to be thought of as stupid, rather than open your mouth and remove all doubt
