TV Show Name: THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON Broadcast Date: Monday 17 November 2008 Channel: Free to Air / SBS Broadcast Time: 10.50 pm Classifications: Other, (R) PG (CC) Timeslot Duration: 60 mins Official title / weblink if available: THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON This spoof documentary plays on the conspiracy theory that the moon landing in 1969 never took place, but was pre-produced by Stanley Kubrick. The story is told by Kubrick's widow, Christiane, and interviews pieced together with Donald Rumsfeld, Henry Kissinger, the former White House Chief of Staff General Alexander Haig, Richard Nixon's adviser Lawrence Eagleburger and former CIA Director Vernon Walters. They appear to be putting forward the idea that President Richard Nixon asked for fake footage to be shot at the MGM studios in England, with CIA agents acting the parts of the astronauts. All those involved in the scam were sworn to secrecy and given new identities. But Nixon, fearing they would talk, sent the CIA after four collaborators. The fugitives were chased to Vietnam, and Nixon deployed 150,000 men and half the US Sixth Fleet to hunt them down and eliminate them. The only one to survive was Kubrick, who locked himself away in his studios from then on. So the story goes. (From France, in English and French, English subtitles) (Entertainment)
