That's odd, I'd have thought that this squadron was much older and would have begun during the war. Did they not introcduce the ATC squadrons in numerical order when they were established? For example No. 7 Squadron in Hamilton began in 1941 or 42.
By the way, Bill Bridget is mentioned in the article. If it's the same guy, he's a fascinating man who flew Halifax bombers and something else that I cannot recall in Britain (maybe Wellingtons) and then was transferred to the Pacific and flew Venturas during the war.

I thought they were named in numerical order at the start too, maybe the unit was disbanded and restarted and it is that 50th anniversary they have celebrated?
