Have any of you folk seen this movie? Sounds like a Neville Shute type scenario butchered...
But from an On Topic point of view, what was the bombing of Darwin Sequence like for you...

It sure has a Neville Shute / Town Like Alice feel to it. The Darwin battle scenes appear a combo of replicas and CGA. The story is a work of fiction and contains several historical inaccuracies. The low level bombing similar to Pearl Harbour (the movie) being one example. No drugs or mindless car chases, one swear word and only one person shot........an old style feel good movie rather than an epic. I gave it 3 1/2 stars

What???...No Drugs, Mindless car chase scenes, no African American humor sidekicks saying 'motherf....' all the time...no stylish loading of handguns/weapons, no tearful reunion at the end w family/pet/girl synchronised by the en-mass arrival of cops in cars...no wonder the Americans can't get it...

Is Nicole's face for real, or is it a replica or CGA as well? At least there isn't a baby eating Dingo in it, or an American with a South African/Australian accent in the damn thing! What ever happened to making real Aussie classics like "Barry McKenzie", "The Club" or "Don's Party"?

Suspect Nicole was chemically enhanced, but the little kid who played Nulla stole the show. The last good local film was Lantana....great cast and a reasonable plot. But 'The Castle' and 'The Dish' are still my favs.

Breaker Morant...Gallipoli...Picnic at Hanging Rock...Malcolm...plenty of Great Aussie films to chose from...I suppose Master and Commander could be included as well...
THE ABSOLUTE WORST AUSSIE 'film' ever has to be "Puppetry of the...'...It did a great deal to confirm people's worst suspicions about the Australian Character...
Priscilla Queen of the Desert didn't help either (apologies to any transvestites on this Forum who might be offended)

In my opinion Baz Lurhmann has only produced one thing of worthy note, Everybody's Free To Wear Sunscreen in 1998, and I might add he plaguerised the lyrics of it too. au.youtube.com/watch?v=sTJ7AzBIJoI
