This sound familiar... ;D Thought I'd ask all what their first projects of the new year will be? Mine is dedicated to finishing my two 1/72 Hasegawa P-51K's I'd started in Early December. One if RAF based in Italy with nice silver finish, faded OD anti-glare and a few indifferent silver panels (using Alclad Dark Alu & Gunze Silver Lacquers - their silver is very hardy and dries decal ready). 2nd is a RNZAF P-51D - had to use K model blades (will buy proper uncaffed blades for my 1/72 Tamiya P-51 - Wellington Sqn). Traditional silver finish with indifferent panels (as above) and Black anti-glare (no fading but some paint chips). Have modeled as NZ2425/511516 which still had the USAAF style bars and tail serial (prior to RNZAF TAF markings). Markings below. Ventura decals were beautiful and matted down great, but had to make a patch for the top wing marking where there's a raised actuator (I...think that's what it is, there's two on the starboard wing). I had to slice the decal but it ripped a tad. Both P-51's will have suttle weathering with oil streaks, some fading and acrylic panel wash. Will get pics when possible tonight - I'm very happy how they've come out and spent time ensuring a smooth finish for the silver. I've done two silver in the past (Mig-15 & Sabre) but they were more test beds (I literally had a mosquito land on the sable as I sprayed....a silver mosquito, imagine that?). Cheers all, sorry if that was long winded. Bradley

Hey Bradley, the Airfix P51D has both K and D model propeller blades. I used Ventura decals on mine to make a No. 3 (Canterbury) Squadron TAF example a number of years ago.

Thanks for that. The Hase kit comes with both cuffed and uncuffed blades but I need uncuffed paddle types similar to those used on Mosquito Mk VI's.
Novascale.com.au do correct 1/72 blades but are for the Tamiya P-51 which will be my next project. I'm slowly trying to get my accuracy up.

Working through Italeri 1/48 S-3B Viking with a truckload of resin and the new Platz 1/72 MQ-1 Predator (as opposed to the RQ-1 I finished last year). Neither NZ related I know, but all of my NZ stuff is a long way down my priority list.

I think the last USN squadrons of Vikings are due to be retired this year?
