That looks better in its new colours, but a pity they forgot to mask some of the windows.

NZ7272 resides in the Aeronautical Training Squadron hangar at Woodbourne alongside the other airframes used for training. Well, most of it does, the tail section is rotting outside alongside the jet engine test bay.

Ah, I see, that's a shame, but I suppose there isn't a huge demand for 727-100s anymore.

Went flying in formation with this Harvard on Sunday ( ZS-WFD ) Strange enough, despite appearances, this Harvard was never in the SAAF and was imported into SA from the US in the late 80's and is c/n 88-18072 ex N7998C / Bu 90794.

Great Harvard formation photo. The orange really stands out against that dark sky.

Oh, lovely to see. Is that an original Junkers built Ju52? Or a CASA 352? Stunning photo!

Oh, lovely to see. Is that an original Junkers built Ju52? Or a CASA 352? Stunning photo! Its actually ZS-AFA(2) and is a Casa 352L painted up to represent the original ZS-AFA(1) which was a JU-52 that served with SA Railways & Harbours, which was the forerunner to SAA (South African Airways)

Cool stuff. Do the 352's have the same engines as the Ju52? Or are the US-made ones or something like that? The CASA 352's look the business anyway.

Although the title of this thread is Aviation in South Africa ..... I have tried to keep it to posts which I think would be of interest to Kiwi's ... So it is with great pleasure that I post a pic of a Victa Airtourer that I photographed today (24 April) at Parys (FAPY)

Something you are not likely to see in NZ but an ex military aircraft that is popular in SA is this Piaggio P166S Albatros. At Rand Airport where I am based, there are 6 of them, all ex SAAF

Just slightly removed from Piaggio's scooter designs! Seriously though, that's a very nice looking aircraft. Nice to see an Airtourer still going strong on the other side of the globe too.
