Hey there; I've been scouring the web for months searching for the F-16 in the Kiwi colors and have been unsuccessful. Is there anyone with any RNZAF F-16 pics out there that can share?? I know there is pics as I used to have a panthlet that had several images of what is requested above. Cheers Ben

That macchi actually flew past Mt Ruapehu. The photograph was taken by Jason Love, I've seen the negative, it was not photoshopped.
The F16 image simply replaced the macchi with an F-16. It was most famously used on the box top of the Kiwi colours 'RNZAF' F-16. There were no 'real' RNZAF F-16s, they never got that far.

I don't think there was a lot of photoshopping going on in 1996 in the RNZAF.

I hate to say this Les, but I believe that may be one of my photoshop concoctions posted on the forum a few years back. Shorty's words of yesterday about colourising photos (see the forum header thread stickied in the General Board) are already haunting me.

Ben, the RNZAF F-16's never got out of the desert aircraft park where they were purchased from as far as i know, and none were put into NZ colours. Phil is correct, and what you saw would have been marketing images created by a graphic artist, just like I coloured a Dutch F-16 above into No. 2 Squadron colours, or my faked Avenger image in my signature.

Yup, just click on the COMPLETED BUILDS tab at the top of the page. Check out the A-4 ALLEY for a host of Kiwi A-4 pics

these are the images from the desert and also inside the reactivation centre. I am pretty sure they got to the stage where some engines were removed and sent away for modifications etc. ?

Perhaps if these were purchased a few months earlier, that site of F-16's under white plastic might have been seen at Woodbourne these days.

Greetings all,
the photo of the F16 and Ruapehu was done using photoshop and the two images , Ruapehu with the Macchi and a standard USAF air-to-air of an F16. These were done by Andy Radka a photographer on my PR staff at Wellington in 1998. As seen in some pics in this forum the real F16s did not get painted in any RNZAF colours
Incidentally, wearing another hat I chose the serial numbers for the F16's they were to be
NZ6521 - 6541 for the single seaters NZ6501 - NZ6504 for the "T" birds
These numbers correspond to the last two for the Vampires the "first generation jets" the RNZAF operationally used.
Some initial squadron markings were discussed with one of the front runners being the No.75s,No14,No2 Squadron checks or bars ALA TAF days being reproduced in a band across the fins of the respective squadron's aircraft
