I remember mention of model kits being made at TVAL's site. Good stuff! The rigging puts me off WW1 models, though - without rigging it just doesn't look right. I'll stick to my Spits, Gulls and Fletchers

This is cool and I wish them well. Curious as to how the last poster on the linked thread got the idea Wingnut is based in Australia though!

Zac, rigging is fun. You just need (endless) patience and fine motor skills. At 1/72 scale might be a bit of a challenge though. Couple of my RC bipes below. Airco DH1 Bristol Scout

Liking the look of the Sopwith Pup.......and I think it would be a brave soul to attempt that upcoming 1:32 Gotha G.IV! Wonder if Wingnut Wings will have a stand at Omaka? Would be great to see some of these in the flesh This really is amazing! The amount of detail, the research that must have gone into these kits. I just had a look at the instructions for the Se.5a "Hisso" on WW's website, there's detail photos of TVAL's machine throughout, as well as historical photos, and CAD drawings for assembly. Amazing. Well done WW!

The instructions are amazing.
I see Richard Alexander (used to be at Modelcrafts and Hobbies before heading off to work for Mr Jackson) has had an input into these.
I too have been put off WW1 aircraft due to rigging. I do like the Brisfit though.

I did wonder why the name Richard Alexander rang bells in my head

Wingnut Wings had a great stand in a tent at the Omaka Classic Fighters airshow over the past weekend, which allowed a really good opportunity to see the current and future releases in their range. I was also pleased to discover that the guys behind this are readers and users of this forum, Richard Alexander and Dave Johnson (aka Moeggo), who very kindly allowed me to photograph the models for the forum so you can all see the amazing quality and detail of these kits. They look absolutely stunning, both in the box and made up. There are a lot of parts in each kit by the look of the sprues and the detail is incredible. Dave also assured me that they have been designed so that they fit together really well. Here are some photos so you can see the quality of these kits yourself, which are all 1/32nd scale: This is an upcoming release, a Gotha bomber, which I reckon looks stunning: Here is one of the 'Little Contemptables' soldier sets, an excellent scenario showing Allied (Kiwi perhaps) tunnellers who have heard the sound of German tunnellers coming the other way - a situation which apparently did occur on occasions and actual fire fights took place underground when the two tunnels met! The Bristol Fighter The SE-5a The RE-8 "Harry Tate" The Sopwith Pup An example of the high quality of the instructions - everything we've always wanted to see in model kitset instructions - clear construction diagrams, in full colour, with other info and also very good reference photos of the aircraft.... these are like books rather than pamphlets too. The LVG is really nice! And the gentlemen themselves, Dave and Richard, rightly proud of their products,

Interesting stuff, Dave. Cracking kits.
BTW, your 'BE2' is actually an RE-8, and looks very nice.

Thanks for the correction James. I'm still getting used to recognising and learning all the names of these WWI types. In fact my education in WWI aircraft types has largely been because of Peter Jackson, who is behind this company. He's sure keeping the memories of these aircraft and the era alive and well. I'll correct it.

I asked Richard if we could expect a Be2 kit from Wingnut Wings in the future.....he grinned slyly and said "wait and see" ;D

Think you'd be at the front of a very short queue there, Dave. ;D More seriously, one of my pet peeves when working with model manufacturers was the endless stream of people who come by at shows to advise which of the 'next' kits we 'should do' that they'd buy. However those characters never seem to be keen to pony up for what is available. A real life hard-finance marketing lesson in the difference between what people say and do. I am tempted by that Junkers...

Just a 'bump' to say I have re-uploaded my photos to a new account so they show up again, as they'd disappeared hanks to so many people looking at them that my Photobucket account maxed out. note this thread has been viewed 2,495 times so far!

Well, I've just purchased the SE.5 and the F.2B- not that I actually build WWI aircraft, but I figure I need to support Kiwi model manufacturing!! Now who's got pictures of the NZPAF/RNZAF F.2Bs?!? or do I make Keith Park's mount...?? Anyone else here bought these kits yet? Cheers, Ian
