With the Be2f, the Avro 504K, the Spitfire and the bristol Freighter, all the real stars of the show were British aeroplanes! Nice.

Of coure the P-40, Mustang and Corsair are always stars Grant, but they have been around the scene for ages. Perhaps I should have said the Starring Debutantes.

The Stuka is purely a static prop and won't fly. Here are the last of my photos. On Sunday night after the airshow I was headed back towards the aero club bar and since there were a lot of floodlights around i attempted a couple of long exposure shots. They're not perfect as they were handheld, but I think they've turned out rather interesting. On Monday when I was waiting at the airport the two Caribous departed. I snapped this through the window of the terminal. And as we climbed out of Woodbourne and headed towards Wellington I snapped one last glimpse of the magical airfield at Omaka.

Fantastic night photos Dave, and love the departing shot of Omaka. It was dark when I left at 7:40 pm for WLG and my flight on 737 to AKL. Next time I attend I will make sure I do a local scenic flight to get some aerial shots of the airfield and surrounding scenery. I am having computer problems so a bit slow adding some shots here. This one I like of the re-enactors and the Spitfire. More to come later. Cheers

Hmm, all my photos have disappeared. I looked into this and it seems there is a cap on how many times photobucket photos can be viewed per month before they switch off. Does this mean at the end of the month they'll come back? I've never experienced this before.

Did anybody happen to get photos of the Red Checkers doing their night display? I'd love to see some and perhaps get permission to use them on my Red Checkers webpage. My camera was useless for that time of night and that distance.

Even the trusty Box Brownie found that display a bit challenging, Dave. Didn't manage to get too many keepers. Mick

" Did anybody happen to get photos of the Red Checkers doing their night display? " That was very cool wasnt it ? I am pretty sure however that all involved would call it an evening display , as night time formation flying would be frowned on a bit . It was certainly one of the highlights of the evening show though .

It was a pretty late twilight all the same , it was my favourite Checkers display ! ( I bevieve the show co-ordinator was a touch " frazzeled "after the twilight event )

That may have something to do with it.

My camera was useless for that time of night and that distance. Here are my efforts from the bar....... One of the most impressive and memorable displays I have seen. Apart from Kiwi Red at the 1990 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony, has there been any other occasions in NZ when teams have displayed in twilight or night?
