A part of the warning system, it detected radar. Another one mounted under the wingtip. Still fitted to the jets.

lesterpk, Thanks. Is there another bump on the other side of the tail, which makes three if there is one underwing? Or were/are there only two? I guess the one underwing would be on the STBD side if only two bumps?

The ones on the tail were on both sides. Only fwd facing one was under the port wingtip. Its the bump closest to the red light.

The ones on the tail were on both sides. Only fwd facing one was under the port wingtip. Its the bump closest to the red light. There was also one on the RH wing tip (i.e. 4 all up). What you see in photos is the fibreglass fairing for the actual antenna, which under the fairing was "looking" at 45 degrees to the forward/aft and left/right axis of the aircraft. Each antenna covered a 90 degree quadrant around the aircraft, although the system allowed some overlap between antennas to help determine accurate bearing. The location of the antennas on the tailpipe "sugar scoop" fairing was the same pre and post Kahu. Pre kahu the antennas were under the forward fuselage, just behind the nose landing gear. Post Kahu these were moved to the wingtips. Of course pre Kahu while we had all the antennas and cockpit warning lights there were no black boxes in the hump to make it all work!

Thanks Don, the same situation (without all the bumps - so nothing really except a promise) existed for RWR that would be provided when needed for A4G by USN. Interesting stuff here; URL provided by 'skyhawkstudygroup' YAHOO: www.prc68.com/I/RWR.shtmlBTW images from lesterpk above don't appear on my computer now so I'm guessing they have been hotlinked (from somewhere?). lesterpk where is the original page please? Thanks.

Thanks Les, now I know why I could not see this walkaround. For my setup IE8 with Vista SP2 RC Treweek's site does not work (at above URL). Try as I might. Oh well....

Firefox is your friend. I'd never go back to IE.

OK - I'll give it a try - generally I need to use the main browser which at moment is IE for discovering these issues. While until now it was never worthwhile to use another browser if there was an IE problem (which is seldom despite this particular problem).
