Great. I'm going to take Mr10 to the Auckland Cenotaph for the dawn service then through the museum and then out to Ardmore. Any idea what time it starts?
He's abolutely obsessed with ww2 aircraft at the moment. He's been up at his grandparents for this week and their neighbour, an old family friend, has been filling his head with stories of flying Lancasters and Mustangs in the latter stages and after the war

Philip, will be good to see you there. Anybody else heading out? Would love to meet some of you. This is the information I recieved from the aeroclub this afternoon:
"The warbirds association shall be doing multiple displays from midday til 1600. The Extra 300 shall be operating as well."

Unfortunately I will be stuck at Whenuapai that day - duty pilot. My penalty for having 4th April off to attend Whitianga, I guess it was worth it.

I'll be there... CIT is doing a banner at 0800 to 1000 and then parking at the club. Might do some flying during the day as well. Then I'll be number 3 in the Harvard 4 ship around 1500... always good for a laugh ;D Love to catch up with everyone, so come on over and say G'day! Cheers Andrew

Not sure what to do with this one now re, dare I say the word, 'weather'. Looking good or not guys? As I am not from here I am not used to these weather patterns and was told basically anything can happen weather-wise in AKL. Any ideas as to how it should generally be on Saturday? Some of you may have access to more in depth weather tools than I have.

Not looking that good at the moment: www.metvuw.com/forecast/forecast.php?type=rain®ion=nzni&noofdays=7(MetVuw is a forecasting system from the Victoria University School of meteorology, and I've found it to be pretty accurate) looks like there may be scattered showers thoughout Saturday. Still worth pencilling it in though, as the weather patterns may come across earlier.

A useful public site is www.metvuw.co.nz. This gave us the confidence to go ahead with a corporate golf day a few weeks back when the more general forecasts had suggested calling it off.

Judging by the round up of coverage from all the regions each year it always seems to rain at the Auckland Dawn Parade and then clear up later. It's probably worth a trip to Ardmore even if it's drizzling because you will meet some interesting people and as it's an open day I'd think the hangars will be open to browse through.

Oh dear, I've just seen a prediction that a massive storm is coming across the Tasman Sea and will hit NZ tomorrow morning with heavy rain and high winds.

Oh dear, I've just seen a prediction that a massive storm is coming across the Tasman Sea and will hit NZ tomorrow morning with heavy rain and high winds. Yeah I'm thinking that the dawn service might be more pleasant than the 11am. One of the afternoon talks looks good, so I might go back later. www.aucklandmuseum.com/Default.asp?t=127

Will Vintage Wings of Canada's P-40N-1 be there? Would be great to see more pics of it, perhaps flying with Currawong?
