.....but necessary! Thanks to a former Wanganui Aero Work pilot, I now have a bonedome of my own: However, over the years it seems to have suffered. I'd like to return it to something of its former glory, so I seek a visor (or just visor cover), as well as inoperable boom mike. This is strictly for display, I have NO CURRENT INTENTION of flying with this kit. Please drop me a line or post if you have anything of interest, or know where I may get spares....

It would probably help if you say what make and model of helmet it is Zac. Bonedome is a nickname, not a brandname.

That;s the thing....I've no idea! Well, Gentex is written on it in one place, that's about it.

Zac, they were before my time in the RNZAF, being Vietnam era, but it looks like and could be an SPH4 helmet. Beagle may be able to confirm. They'd been all but phased out when I joined and I only worked on Alpha Helmets.

Bit confused here, doesn't seem to have the mounting holes for the central track for the single visor version but neither are the holes for the dual visor cover apparent. Any moe info? I had a SPH4 but disposed of it a few years after I got out of the mob.

Hi Zac, nice score. What you have there is Gentex SPH-4 series helmet. SPH stands for Sound Protective Helmet and it is NOT a crash helmet they were developed mainly for the high-noise enviroment of helicopters, but they are better than no helmet in a crash. If you have holes for the yellow circled screws (see pic below), you have a standard SPH-4 but if you have another hole roughly where the red circle is, you probaly have a SPH-4A dual visor model (it looks too old to be one of the newer SPH-4B helmets). Are these some of the parts you are after? Cheers

Marcus, those do indeed look like the parts I seek I see a hole roughly where the red circleshape is, so it seems mine is an SPH-4A. Vietnam era, huh? Hmm, my friend doing his 500 rating will be pleased.... Anyone got any avionics? Would love even just a boom mike for display. I've had a message from someone about a pair of helmets, complete, that he would rather someone else have than be thrown out.....decisions, decisions!

Having looked at your photos Marcus I was getting confused with the -4 and the -4A models. The one I had was a -4A ex CT-4 crew. The shell itself was a "A" class store whereas all the other bits were "C" stores.
