As many of you probably know, I'm a bit of a fan of the Fletcher Fu24 topdresser, more than 20 of which have been operated by my employer over the years. The rumbling roar of their flat-eight engines reverberating off the hills is a uniquely Kiwi sound. As many of you probably are, I'm also a fan of the superlative Supermarine Spitfire, iconic British fighter of WW2. The latest of the breed to fly, PV270, is owned by Martonian Brendon Deere and painted in his uncle Alan's colours, a Spit with a uniquely Kiwi connection. So why not fly them together? ;D I was originally just going to play around with two actual photos to get this bizarre combo, then I thought "Why not do it in Flight Simulator?"!! I was throttle to the firewall in BHC, trimming to fly straight and level, whereas I took off a bit afterward in PV270 and raced to catch up. Then, about 0.4nm away, I eased back on the throttle....but still overtook! So back to about 1/8, BHC slid past, and then hovering around 1/4 throttle - and very nose high! - I was able to keep abreast of the mighty Fletcher. Good fun!

Hehehe... that's cool Zac.
At least I know now that if I am topdressing and get jumped by a high performance piston fighter, I should drop full flap on the fletcher and throttle back while huggung the hillside ;D
Then by the time the spit get's a firing shot, it will be on the limits of it's controlability. You could always confuse the spit as well by squezing a bit out of the hopper and diving away towards the ground... 'he only thinks I have been shot down'...

;D ;D ;D Who needs a Strike Wing when we have warbirds to fly deception while the topdressers sneek in through the weeds and choke they with super although we have probably signed an anti-biological weapon treaty to spoil this combination as well.
