There are only 2 that are designated "Auckland" Sqns, the rest are 30 (Hobsonville), 40 (City of Manukau), 6 (North Shore City), 5 (Rodney) and 4 (Ardmore) . Maybe that will change with the "Super City" restructure....

Are the two Auckland Squadrons still 3 and 19? I was in 3 Sqdn in the early 60s when it was split into two and I became one of the original members of 19. The split into the two squadrons was brought about because the original No 3 had become too big.

Actually, I think that Sqwark2k makes a good point regarding of the merger of the cities, what happens to all those groups like the ATC squadrons who are affiliated to a certain city which will suddenly disappear as an entity? Will they have to change their own identities? Or will they retain their title as a relic of the past (like Ceylon tea, from Sri Lanka for example)?

Shorty, yes, the 2 Auckland Sqn's are 3 & 19.... 3 is still quite large, not sure about 19, but both still very active.
Btw, currently the largest ATC unit is 17 (City of Christchurch) who are parading about 130 cadets currently

More than likely the squadrons will keep their original name as it refers to the suburb they are in. bar one or two of the squadron.
