Just came back from the landlords where I was watching the above on Sky. The episode was on extreme aircraft recovery, covered P-38 Glacier Girl, a P-61 from a PNG Mountain, a B24D from great Sitkin Island in the Aleutians and a FW 190 from a Norwegian Fiord. Just prior to it on National Geographic was Britains Great Machines, with Dragon Rapaide, S6B and Spitfire (amongst other stuff)Didn't know that in the S6B there was no seat, the pilot sat on the wing surface. Both programmes well worth a watch when they come around again

What's the story with the B-24D? Was it in good condition? Where has it gone to?

Thanks, it looks great for a restoration from wreckage.

Thanks, it looks great for a restoration from wreckage. Even more impressive when you know how the recovered it - - unbolt/cut apart - drag on aircraft pallets using manpower/winch on ship 150m off shore - drag/push down small cliff onto stoney beach - attach old fishing floats found on beach - winch out to ship and drag up loading ramp.
