There's been more than enough written and You-tubed on the incident of the Victor at Bruntingthorpe becoming airborne when the intention was only to taxi down the runway, so I won't add to that, except to comment on the brilliant airmanship and the ignorant reporting.
The pilot, who wasn't a pilot but was once, displayed brilliant skills in landing an aircraft he hadn't flown in service since the 1980s, and nothing since he retired from the RAF. Yet all his instinctive skills came to the fore and he reacted in a truly brilliant fashion to avert what would have been an awful accident. I've been to Bruntingthorpe, and it has, fortunately, one of the longest runways in Britain...10,000' or thereabouts. Watch the You-tube.
The 'engineer' in the co-pilot's seat caused the problem by apparently "pushing the throttle button", which is presumably next to the call button for the Hostie...
Well done Sir!

Great to hear the CAA saw it for what it was.
Totally agree with your comments, Phil. Although it's an old story, looks like the news services got hold of it yesterday. The old pilot was interviewed and struck me as a a fine gentleman and consummate professional even though he's retired.
