I certainly remember it - Sgt Alan Farmer was the simple farmboy who became a pilot (remember the opening showed him before the war watchign a Boxkite or something like that flying past his farm). Lt Galieon was the pompous officer who was always taken down a peg from memory. I seem to recall their wives and families were often seen, back in England while they fought in France. The Be2c's of the RFC took on Eindekkers and the Huns were always very dangerous. I recall someone being taken prisoner, not sure if it was a Brit or a Gerry but it was all very civil, tea in the mess etc. Not your usual POW thing. And Captain Triggers was the CO of the unit.
Amazingly most of the aerial action was done by models, and the flying full sized Be2c was filmed in the USA and cut into scenes of models and non-flying replica Be2c's in the UK!!
The models were made and flown by famous modelmaker David Boddington, and the flying Be2c is now part-owned and being restored to fly soon by his nephew Matt Boddington. Matt's dad was a film stunt pilot and was killed making a film.
